No — the Draw-Tite 75699 is not the correct hitch for a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. It is designed for the larger Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is a different vehicle/platform.
For your 2016 Jeep Cherokee, we recommend one of these CURT Class 3 hitches instead:
- CURT 13171 – This is the more traditional, exposed-style hitch, where the main cross tube is visible below the rear bumper. It has a 2" receiver and is rated for up to 5,000 lbs. gross trailer weight and 750 lbs. tongue weight. CURT confirms it fits the 2016 Jeep Cherokee.
- CURT 13172 – This is the more concealed option. The main hitch body is tucked up behind the bumper, leaving primarily the receiver visible for a cleaner, more factory-style appearance. It also has a 2" receiver and the same 5,000-lb. gross trailer weight / 750-lb. tongue weight rating. CURT specifically lists the 2016 Jeep Cherokee as compatible.
If appearance is important, we'd recommend the CURT 13172 for its cleaner, concealed installation. If you're looking for a straightforward installation and don't mind seeing the hitch cross tube, the CURT 13171 is an excellent choice.
As always, the vehicle manufacturer's towing capacity should not be exceeded, even if the hitch itself carries a higher rating.
