The hitch itself is legal, but whether it's legal to drive with it installed depends on your local jurisdiction. Many provinces and states require the rear license plate to remain clearly visible at all times, so if the receiver or a hitch-mounted accessory obscures the plate, it could result in a ticket.
The EcoHitch Invisi is designed to be as discreet as possible when not in use. When the receiver is installed, some customers choose to temporarily reposition or lower their license plate while using the hitch so that it remains visible. Others use a license plate relocation bracket or a quick-release mounting solution to make this easier.
