The Rhino-Rack RTTB1 Backbone 2 Base Mounting System is primarily constructed from powder-coated stainless steel, not aluminum. The stainless steel construction provides the strength needed to transfer roof loads into the Tacoma's factory mounting points while offering excellent corrosion resistance.
The Pioneer Platform that mounts to this Backbone (sold separately) is the component that is made from powder-coated aluminum with reinforced nylon corners.
So in short:

- Compatible Pioneer Platform: Powder-coated aluminum
