The main difference has less to do with the design but more with the gas spring force (pressure)?
- 032227-001 is rated at 380 N (approximately 85 lbs of force).
- 032227-003 is rated at 490 N (approximately 110 lbs of force).
Because of the higher force rating, these shocks are not interchangeable unless Carefree specifically lists them as replacements for the same awning model. Installing the wrong one can affect how the awning opens, closes, and supports the roller tube.
