Yes. The Dometic DOMDM2872LB1 is a 2-way absorption refrigerator that is designed to operate continuously on either:
- 120V AC household power, or
- LP (propane) gas
It is not limited to using 120V as a backup power source. When plugged into shore power at a campground or at home, it can run 24/7 on 120V AC without using propane. In AUTO mode, the refrigerator will automatically select 120V AC when it's available and switch to propane if shore power is lost.
A couple things to add:
- It is an absorption refrigerator, so on 120V it uses an electric heating element rather than a compressor. It cools just as effectively as it does on propane, although absorption refrigerators cool more slowly than residential compressor models.
- It requires 120V AC for electric operation and 12V DC to power the control board and electronics. The 12V draw is minimal but still required.
