For around vents on a fiberglass RV roof, most would recommend using Dicor self-leveling lap sealant rather than the Alkyd fibered roof coating. The Heng’s/alkyd fibered coating is more commonly used as a roof coating/protective layer for larger roof areas, not the best choice for sealing penetrations like vents, skylights, or xxxx heads.
The Dicor self-leveling sealant is specifically designed for:
- roof vents
- skylights
- roof seams
- xxxx heads
- horizontal roof penetrations
- and it adheres well to fiberglass roofs.
Self-Leveling Lap Sealant
Purpose-built RV roof sealant for vents, seams, and horizontal roof penetrations on fiberglass and other RV roof materials.
Alkyd Fibered Roof Coating
Protective roof coating intended for broader roof coverage and maintenance rather than sealing around roof penetrations.
- Use self-leveling only on flat/horizontal surfaces.
- If you’re sealing a vertical edge or sidewall area, use a non-sag RV sealant instead.
