The Crown Automotive CRORT27065 is a simple steel angle bracket that raises your seat belt receiver (buckle) about 6 inches - it's mainly used for Jeeps with center consoles that make the buckle hard to reach.
How it installs (step-by-step)
It’s pretty straight forward - no special tricks, just bolt-on:
- Remove the existing seat belt bolt
- Locate the bolt holding the seat belt receiver to the floor/tunnel.
- Use a socket (usually Torx or standard bolt depending on your Jeep).
- Remove the bolt and keep it (you’ll reuse it.)
- Position the bracket
- The RT27065 is an angle bracket.
- One hole goes to the factory mounting point (floor).
- The other hole is where your seat belt receiver will bolt on.
- Orient it so the bracket raises the buckle upward and slightly inward (toward you).
- Bolt the bracket to the floor
- Use the factory bolt to secure the bracket to the original mounting hole.
- Tighten it firmly (for safety, torque it properly if you can).
- Attach the seat belt receiver to the bracket
- Bolt the seat belt receiver to the upper hole of the bracket.
- Again, use the original hardware unless new hardware is supplied (most listings say reuse factory hardware).
- Check alignment and movement
- Make sure the buckle sits upright and isn’t twisted.
- Ensure the belt latches smoothly and isn’t binding.
