How effective is this product against stones on a trailering boat than a trailer mounted guard?

They're effective; in fact, some prefer these over trailer-mounted guards. They're less costly, install easily in a 2" receiver hitch, and, being full width at 18" x 76" they provide good protection, and they don’t trap debris or make contact with the boat during transport.
